Heights Winter Sports=Triple Threat

The athletic program that has produced three NCAA D-I team captains in the past three years has had a big week.  That’s right, sports fans, the Cavs were firing on all cylinders.

Heights Basketball:  The Varsity Cavs followed up on Tuesday’s win against Trinity with a huge victory over Wilson on Wednesday night, with senior Joe Kelly hitting the game winning shot in the final seconds of the game.  Wilson was 6-2 coming into the game, with wins over Sidwell and Friendship Collegiate.  Heights freshman Kyle De Pollar nailed a couple of critical shots late in the game and sophomore Isaiah Grigsby put 16 point on the board.  The future is looking good.

Here’s a shot of the game-winning three:

Heights Wrestling:  The wrestling team won two home matches against Massanutten and the Model School, the second one by a very close margin.

Heights Swimming:  Our Cavs topped Bullis on Thursday, 91-61, winning first place in 9 of 12 events.  John Paul Royals took first in 4 events; Robert McHale and Griffin Kim both took first in 3.

Incidentally, check out this interview with Heights alumnus and Notre Dame senior swimmer Conor Evans here.  Additionally, an article highlighting the High Point University Lacrosse program where Heights alumnus David Pim is making his debut is up at insidelacrosse.

Excellence in all things.  GO CAVS!
